The Supreme Court has rejected a request to stop the construction of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s camp office in Rushikonda. The plea, filed by Lingamaneni Sivarama Prasad, was dismissed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on the grounds that it was politically motivated. The Supreme Court directed Prasad to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the AP High Court, as the case was already being considered there.
Prasad had filed a PIL against the Andhra Pradesh Government, seeking the cancellation of GO 2015, which allowed for the establishment of the camp office and offices of senior officials in Rushikonda. In his petition, Prasad claimed that the State Government had violated orders from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the AP High Court.
Prasad appealed to the Supreme Court to halt construction in Rushikonda until the cases were resolved in the NGT and AP High Court.
