A bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and Sandeep Mehta heard a petition against the interim protection granted to Macherla YCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy. They directed the MLA not to enter the counting center on June 4. The bench also dismissed a special leave petition calling the reason frivolous.
Advocates for the Election Commission of India showed videos of the YCP MLA allegedly destroying an EVM during webcasting. The bench asked the MLA’s lawyer to respond before making a decision. The MLA’s counsel chose not to comment on the video. The Supreme Court also instructed the MLA to submit an affidavit promising to follow the court’s directions.
The Supreme Court then urged the AP High Court to make a decision based on all the facts presented in the next hearing.
