On October 26, 2024, a special event called Pink Defenders took place in Hyderabad. The event was organized by Apollo Hospitals and Apollo Cancer Centre to raise awareness about breast cancer. Many men participated in this inspiring initiative.

The event was attended by two important guests: Dr. Vijay Anand Reddy, a well-known oncologist and Director of Apollo Cancer Centre in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, and Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sri C.V. Anand. Both of them gave short speeches highlighting the importance of breast cancer awareness.

Dr. Reddy and Commissioner Anand emphasized the need for men to encourage the women in their lives—whether it be daughters, wives, sisters, or mothers—to get regular breast cancer screenings. Dr. Reddy pointed out that women often neglect their own health while caring for their families, which can lead to late detection of breast cancer. Commissioner Anand agreed with this concern and supported the message.

After the speeches, Dr. Reddy led a walk at KBR Park, starting around 7 a.m. He raised the Apollo Hospitals flag and walked with his team and the participants. Most of the people in the walk were men, and they wore pink shirts to show their support for breast cancer awareness. It was a powerful and moving sight.
