Pfizer India and Yashoda Hospitals have joined forces to open a new Centre of Excellence for adult vaccination in Yashoda Hospitals Hitec City, Hyderabad. The goal of the center is to provide comprehensive coverage of adult vaccination in the community. It will offer immunization against diseases like Pneumococcal disease, Influenza, HPV, and Hepatitis A and B.
In India, most deaths from vaccine-preventable diseases occur in adults. Despite the effectiveness of adult vaccination in improving quality of life, its adoption in the country is low. The CoE will help educate healthcare providers about the benefits of adult vaccination, especially for at-risk individuals with conditions like COPD, Asthma, Diabetes, Chronic Heart Disease, and others. Training modules and guidelines will be provided to support this effort.
Pfizer India and Yashoda Hospitals also aim to educate patients about the long-term benefits of vaccines through the center. Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, Director of Yashoda Hospitals, emphasized the importance of vaccinations for people of all ages, especially vulnerable groups. The collaboration with Pfizer demonstrates their commitment to providing quality care and promoting adult vaccination.
Dr. Santosh Taur, Director Medical Affairs at Pfizer Vaccines, highlighted their dedication to public health and vaccination. The partnership with Yashoda Hospitals aims to expand access to adult vaccination and protect against prevalent diseases like respiratory illnesses. The establishment of the Centre of Excellence is a significant step in supporting the healthcare system and empowering both healthcare providers and patients with important information about immunization.
