    The Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, has stated that they are on high alert to ensure that people in the city do not face any difficulties due to the continuous rain over the past four days. The Mayor visited the control room at the GHMC headquarters and inquired about the resolution of complaints from residents. The GHMC has set up 428 monsoon emergency teams and 27 DRF teams to address any problems caused by the rain.

    The Mayor urged people to only go out if it is necessary during heavy rain. She mentioned that complaints regarding 946 water bodies have been resolved and 107 trees have been removed. Additionally, five dilapidated walls in different colonies have been demolished due to water logging.

    Efforts have been made to identify houses in a dilapidated condition and prevent any accidents. So far, 483 houses have been identified, out of which 87 have been demolished and 92 repairs have been permitted. Furthermore, 19 houses have been seized.

    The Mayor also mentioned that out of the 36 works undertaken by SNDP in the city at a cost of Rs 780 crore, 30 works have been completed without any flooding. The remaining six works will be completed soon.
