Mahatma’s Life a Great Inspiration
Gadwal: District Collector B M Santosh paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, on the occasion of his 155th birth anniversary. He acknowledged Gandhi as a great leader who secured India’s freedom through non-violence and Satyagraha.
The Collector offered floral tributes at Gandhi’s statue at the Old Bus Stand and at Lal Bahadur Shastri’s statue on Rajiv Marg. He described Mahatma Gandhi as a warrior who chose peaceful methods to fight for India’s independence. The Collector emphasized that Gandhi’s life and ideas, especially the principles of non-violence and truth, are a major source of inspiration. He encouraged everyone to follow Gandhi’s path of love, peace, and honesty.
The Gandhi Jayanti celebrations continued at the District Collectorate and Zilla Parishad offices, attended by RDO Ramachander, Zilla Parishad CEO Kanthamma, and others.
Remembering Gandhi
On the same occasion, Nagar Kurnool District SP Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi at a portrait in the SP office. He praised Gandhi’s intelligence and strategies, which played a pivotal role in securing India’s independence.
Additional SP CH Rameshwar, Nagar Kurnool DSP Srinivas, CI Kanakayya, and other police personnel also participated in the event.
Apostle of Non-Violence
Former ZP Chairperson and Congress leader Sarithamma, along with Municipal Chairman B S Keshav, paid floral tributes to Gandhi. Sarithamma spoke about Gandhi’s sacrifice and his use of non-violent resistance, known as Satyagraha, to win freedom for the nation. Keshav highlighted how Gandhi’s non-violence helped push the British out of India and urged the youth to continue working for a brighter future.
Tributes Paid to Gandhi and Shastri
Wanaparthy: In Pebbair town, Congress leaders marked the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the 120th birth anniversary of India’s second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri. They paid tribute to Shastri’s portrait at Subhash Chowrasta and praised his famous slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.”
Later, the group visited Gandhi’s statue in the 9th ward to offer floral tributes. A large number of Congress workers participated in the event.
Grand Celebrations of Gandhi Jayanti
Gadwal: At the Alampur Market Yard, Mahatma Gandhi’s Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Chairman Bingi Doddi Doddappa spoke about Gandhi’s leadership, which focused on non-violence, truth, and peace, leading India to independence. He emphasized that Gandhi’s ideals continue to guide the Congress party in promoting national unity and integrity.
Doddappa also stressed Gandhi’s belief that the prosperity of villages is key to India’s development. He urged Congress workers to strive for “Gram Swaraj” (self-reliant villages) as a way to achieve overall national growth. The event was attended by Vice Chairman Pacharla Kumar, Market Yard Directors Shanagapalli Rukmananda Reddy, and others.
Gandhi and Shastri’s Contributions Remembered
Gadwal: The 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the 120th birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri were celebrated at the district police office. District SP T Srinivas Rao praised Gandhi’s dedication to truth and non-violence, which he believed were powerful tools to achieve any goal. The SP also highlighted how Gandhi managed to unite extremists and moderates in the freedom movement.
Speaking about Lal Bahadur Shastri, the SP praised his slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” and recognized him for leading with transparency and effectiveness during his time as India’s second Prime Minister.
