Clash at Gandhi Bhavan Embarrasses PCC Leadership
In Hyderabad, Gandhi Bhavan became the center of a clash involving Youth Congress members on Wednesday, leaving the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) leadership in an awkward position. PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud is expected to take action against those responsible for the incident.
Sources within the party have pointed fingers at the newly elected State Youth Congress president, J Charan Reddy, for failing to prevent the situation. The meeting, which took place at Indira Bhavan, was organized under his leadership, and he was present when the clash occurred. This marks the second such incident under his watch, following a recent protest at the BJP office that turned violent. These repeated disturbances have reportedly embarrassed the State Congress leadership. It is anticipated that the PCC chief will address the issue upon his return from an overseas trip.
The earlier incident happened on January 7, when tensions flared outside the BJP State office. Youth Congress workers were protesting against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri’s controversial remarks about Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi. The situation escalated when Youth Congress members allegedly threw eggs and tomatoes at BJP workers. In response, BJP workers came out carrying sticks, leading to a scuffle. During the altercation, a Dalit Morcha worker from the BJP sustained a head injury.
This protest drew widespread criticism for its poor handling by the Youth Congress leadership. Following the incident, Mahesh Kumar Goud publicly warned the youth wing leaders to avoid such missteps in the future. He emphasized the importance of peaceful protests and urged members to prevent physical clashes during demonstrations.
The recent clash at Gandhi Bhavan has further highlighted the need for better coordination and leadership within the Youth Congress to avoid similar incidents. The PCC leadership is now under pressure to take corrective measures to restore order and discipline within the party.
