Hyderabad: The president of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), B Mahesh Kumar Goud, has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove Bandi Sanjay Kumar from his position as Union Minister of State. This demand comes in response to controversial remarks made by Bandi Sanjay against revolutionary poet Gaddar.
Mahesh Kumar criticized Bandi Sanjay’s statements, calling them against the spirit of the Constitution. He highlighted Gaddar’s significant role in the movement for Telangana’s statehood, which has earned him a special place in the hearts of the people of Telangana. According to Mahesh Kumar, Bandi Sanjay’s remarks may stem from his insecurity, as the BJP is expected to announce a new State president soon, potentially reducing Bandi’s influence within the party.
The PCC president also questioned whether prestigious awards and recognition in the country are reserved only for those associated with the BJP and RSS. He stated that Bandi Sanjay’s comments are unbecoming of someone holding the position of Union Minister of State. Mahesh Kumar demanded that the Prime Minister take immediate action by dismissing Bandi Sanjay if he truly respects the Constitution.
Additionally, Mahesh Kumar pointed out that the BJP has already shifted from its ideological stance by welcoming individuals from Leftist backgrounds, such as former minister Eatala Rajender. He questioned how the BJP could justify giving an MP ticket to someone like Rajender, who was once vocal about his naxal agenda.
In response to Bandi Sanjay’s remarks, Congress workers staged protests. Near Gandhi Bhavan, they burned an effigy of Bandi Sanjay. Police prevented some protesters from marching to the State BJP office in Nampally, while others held peaceful rallies demanding his resignation. Several Congress leaders, including MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Addanki Dayakar, Sama Rammohan Reddy, Indira Shobhan, and others, joined in condemning Bandi Sanjay and called for his resignation.
