Karimnagar: BRS chief KCR has announced former minister Koppula Eshwar as the BRS candidate for the Peddapally parliamentary seat, and B Vinod Kumar for the Karimnagar seat. This move has added an interesting twist to the political landscape. Sitting MP Borlakunta Venkatesh Neta recently joined the Congress party, prompting KCR to field Eshwar for the seat. KCR had previously instructed Eshwar to prepare to contest for the Peddapally MP seat.
Eshwar switched from CPI ML to TDP and contested for the Medaram assembly seat in 1994, narrowly losing. He played a significant role in the Telangana movement initiated by KCR for statehood in 2001, eventually winning as an MLA from the Medaram Assembly seat in 2004. He continued his political career by winning elections from various constituencies and serving in different government roles.
KCR believes that Eshwar’s popularity among Singareni workers and his political experience make him a strong candidate to represent the BRS in the Peddapalli Lok Sabha constituency. Other political parties are now scrambling to find suitable candidates in response to Eshwar’s nomination. The current MP Venkatesh Neta’s chances of securing the Congress ticket remain uncertain.
Political analysts predict a tough battle for the Peddapally Parliament seat with multiple candidates vying for the opportunity. In Karimnagar, Boianapalli Vinod Kumar, a long-time associate of KCR, has been announced as the candidate for the BRS party. Vinod Kumar has held various positions within the TRS party and has a history of representing different constituencies in the Lok Sabha.
As the BJP and other parties also search for strong candidates, the upcoming elections in both Peddapally and Karimnagar are expected to be highly competitive. The field of potential candidates includes individuals from diverse communities, adding complexity to the political landscape.
