A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale hit Pakistan and parts of India on Sunday. The earthquake’s epicenter was near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, around 220 km deep in the Hindu Kush Mountain range. This reduced the impact of the earthquake.
People in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and New Delhi in India felt the tremors. In Pakistan, the shocks were felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Swat, Haripur, Malakand, Abbottabad, Batgram, Texlia, Pind Dadan Khan, and other parts of the country. No loss of life or property has been reported so far.
