Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed that the country’s military is planning to keep him in jail for 10 years. He made these claims through a series of tweets after holding a meeting with PTI leaders at his Lahore residence. Khan also accused the military of trying to humiliate him by putting his wife, Bushra Begum, in jail and using sedition charges to keep him inside. The 70-year-old politician has been on bail in dozens of cases. He also accused the military of unleashing terror on citizens and controlling the media.

Khan urged the people of Pakistan to fight for their freedom and not to bow down to fear. He also criticized the JUI-F “drama” outside the Supreme Court and accused it of trying to overawe the chief justice of Pakistan. Khan’s arrest by the Pakistan Rangers on May 9 triggered unrest in Pakistan that continued for three days. The protesters stormed the army headquarters in Rawalpindi and torched the corps commander’s house in Lahore. The death toll in violent clashes was 10, according to police, while Khan’s party claims that 40 of its workers lost their lives.
