The Secunderabad Assembly constituency is going to have an interesting battle in the upcoming election. T Padma Rao Goud, a strong Telangana warrior, will be facing Jayasudha, a candidate from the glamour industry who is expected to get a ticket from the BJP.
Secunderabad is also known as Lashkar (Army) because of the Cantonment area. In the past, the fight has been between the Congress and the BRS. However, this time the BJP is trying to win the seat with a touch of glamour. The constituency has a cosmopolitan culture with employees of various Central departments residing in the area. Some areas in the Secunderabad segment include Addagutta, Boudhanagar, Mettuguda, Sitaphalmandi, Tarnaka, Parsigutta, and Tukaramgate.
Deputy Speaker Padma Rao Goud, who belongs to the pink party, has been retained and is aspiring for his third consecutive term. He has become a strong force in the constituency, winning in 2004, 2014, and 2018. Even during the BJP wave in the GHMC elections, he ensured the victory of five out of five candidates in his constituency.
Other candidates vying for a ticket from this segment include Jayasudha, former Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, and Mekala Sarangapani who previously contested as a BJP candidate. Within the Congress party, there is competition among several leaders who are aspiring for the ticket. Some of these leaders include Adam Santosh Kumar, Nomula Prakash Rao Goud, and industrialist N Sai Baba.
According to locals in the constituency, their MLA has been taking good care of them and solving long pending problems. He has achieved tasks like setting up degree and junior colleges that were pending for decades. The multi-purpose function hall and Setwin centre for skill development for youth are some of the notable achievements in this segment.
G Suraj, a business owner in the constituency, praises Pajjanna for being down-to-earth and providing remarkable services to the middle class and the poor during the pandemic. One of the biggest advantages of Pajjanna is his commitment to fighting corruption and securing many LOCs for medical emergencies.
It will be interesting to see how the voters make their decision in the election, whether they will support their leader or be attracted to glamour.
