Dr B R Ambedkar Open University, in partnership with the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), recently held the OU OER fest at the university campus in Hyderabad. Dr Nirmal Jeet Singh Kalsi, former chairman of NCVET, emphasized the importance of open universities sharing best practices and research to improve e-learning programs. This sharing of knowledge helps empower individuals who lack traditional educational access.
Director of CEMCA, Dr B Shadrach, highlighted the need for faculty members to focus on accountable research and support skill development. Vice-Chancellor Professor K Seetharama Rao discussed the challenges in meeting Sustainable Development Goals and National Education Policy 2020 targets. He noted that open universities play a crucial role in increasing higher education enrollment, with BRAOU contributing over 17% GER in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Overall, the event aimed to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing among open universities to enhance educational resources and support skill development for learners.
