A student at Osmania University was injured on Tuesday when plaster from the ceiling of the Main Technology Hostel washroom collapsed. The incident took place in the morning. The injured student, K Naveen, is a final-year Food Technology student. He was hurt on his back and head.

Following this, students gathered on the main road to protest. They demanded better safety and maintenance in the hostels. These protests happened despite a recent ban on campus demonstrations by the university administration.

This was not the first time such an incident occurred. In July last year, part of the ceiling in the boys’ hostel collapsed due to heavy rain. Fortunately, no one was injured as it happened late at night. However, students were frightened by the incident.
