The Opposition parties in India are planning to hold a meeting on June 23 in Patna. The parties hope to unite against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Many top leaders from various political parties, including TMC, Samajwadi Party, Shiv Sena-Uddhav Balasaheb Thackey, JMM, AAP, DMK, CPI, CPI-M, and CPI-ML, are expected to attend the meeting. This meeting was postponed from June 12 because some leaders could not attend at that time.
However, there is some uncertainty about the participation of three regional players, namely Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Odisha CM and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik, and Telugu Desam Party chief and former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu. KCR has not made up his mind about joining the ‘one against one’ bloc due to differences with the Congress. Patnaik has always been on the fence about supporting the BJP-led NDA or the Congress. Naidu is trying to get into an alliance with the BJP as he finds it difficult to stand against the YSRCP led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in AP.
The meeting is expected to be significant as the Opposition parties are trying to unite against the ruling BJP in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
