The leader of the BRS, K Chandrashekar Rao, is attempting to use a corporate route to increase political tension against the BJP, according to reports. The State government has decided to participate in the bidding process for Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) through the state-run SCCL, but the BJP has criticised this decision, questioning why the BRS is not participating in the coal blocks auction of SCCL. The BJP has pointed out that the state government has not participated in previous auctions due to their economic non-viability in terms of coal extraction. Opposition leaders have also questioned the financial strength of SCCL to bid in the name of saving RINL’s VSP. Despite this, BRS is attempting to secure VSP to make this and the issue of a railway zone emotional issues during the next Assembly elections and try to gain entry into AP politics.
