The Telangana State Forest department started a mission to catch a leopard seen in Shamshabad, making residents nervous. The forest department acted quickly after the leopard was caught on camera early Tuesday.
They placed 10 cameras and three cages to catch the leopard. The animal was spotted on camera entering a house in Jhansimiyaguda in Shamshabad.
Residents had been worried about a big cat in the area, as they said stray dogs and cattle had been attacked. Forest officials had not confirmed it was a leopard, but the reports caused fear among people on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
MLA V Prakash Goud visited the area and asked forest officials to catch the leopard. Last month, a leopard was captured near Hyderabad airport in the same region. After five days, forest officials trapped the leopard in a cage with bait and released it back into the wild at Nehru Zoological Park.
