District Collector Dr Priyanka Ala recently launched a trail walk program on the new bridge in Bhadrachalam. The bridge is set to open soon, bringing relief to residents and commuters in the area.
The new bridge, located near the existing structure, is expected to ease traffic congestion on National Highway 30, which connects Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Spanning 1.20 km in length and 12 m in width, supported by 37 pillars, it will improve transportation and connectivity in the region.
The project, initiated by Rajdeep Build-con Private Limited, cost around Rs 80 crore and began in April 2015. Despite delays, efforts by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and support from Union Roads and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari helped accelerate the project’s completion.
The historical significance of Bhadrachalam’s bridges adds to the importance of this development. The old bridge, constructed between 1959 and 1965, was a significant infrastructure project initiated by late AP Chief Minister Dr N Sanjeeva Reddy.
