Schools in Telangana started the new academic year on Monday, despite the hot weather and delayed monsoon. Only 50% of students turned up on the first day, with some private schools continuing with online classes. A few budget private schools extended their summer vacation due to the weather conditions. However, a fake circular on social media caused confusion among parents, stating that summer vacation had been extended for a week due to heavy rains. The Education Department denied this.

A teacher at Government High School, Nallakunta said that many students did not turn up because of the misleading circular. Due to the high temperatures, Delhi Public School has decided to continue with online classes until the monsoon arrives. St Sai High School received many calls from parents asking about the school reopening due to the confusion caused by the fake circular. The Telangana Recognized School Managements Association stated that most budget private schools will open from June 15, while some will open on June 19 due to the unfavorable weather conditions.
