    Nirmal District Collector Focuses on Tackling Illegal Sand Transportation

    Nirmal District Collector, Abhilasha Abhinav, held a meeting with officials from various departments at the Collectorate on Saturday. The discussion revolved around taking necessary steps to control illegal sand transportation in the district. Addressing the officials, the Collector emphasized the need for strict action against those involved in such illegal activities. She urged the departments to identify and completely eradicate illegal sand mining.

    The Collector also sought details about ongoing construction projects under the purview of government departments. She stressed that sand required for these projects must be collected strictly as per the rules. Contractors working on these construction projects were instructed to follow the regulations, and reports detailing the sand requirements for each project must be submitted. Abhilasha Abhinav made it clear that sand would only be supplied based on these reports and warned against illegal sand purchases. Additionally, she directed officials to conduct regular inspections to prevent illegal sand mining and its transportation.

    Focus on Waste Management in Nirmal Town

    Later, the Collector, along with Additional Collector of Local Bodies Faizan Ahmed, inspected a dumping yard near Nirmal town. During the inspection, she instructed that wet and dry garbage should be collected separately from each household in Nirmal every day and transported to the dumping yard. She emphasized the importance of segregating recyclable materials such as plastic covers, cans, paper, rags, glass bottles, and cardboard boxes in the designated segregation area.

    The Collector also ordered the immediate installation of CCTV cameras at the dumping yard to improve monitoring. She highlighted the need for fire prevention measures and advised staff to take careful precautions to ensure safety.

    Through these measures, the District Collector aimed to address not only illegal sand mining but also improve waste management practices in Nirmal town.
