The biennial Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, which is said to be Asia’s biggest tribal fair, will take place in Medaram village, Mulugu district in February 2024. The Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, has sanctioned Rs 75 crore for the event. The previous government did not make any preparations for the fair despite announcing the dates on May 3. The administration is facing challenges in providing proper amenities due to the delayed start of work and lack of focus on permanent facilities. The progress of ongoing works is being inspected and a review meeting will be held next week to ensure the smooth conduct of the fair.
