The Managing Director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Dana Kishore, inspected the ongoing works of Fatehnagar Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) on Tuesday. He instructed officials to complete the construction by the end of September and start its operations.

Kishore emphasized the importance of the STP, which has a capacity of 133 MLD, and urged officials to expedite the works. The civil works have already been completed, and construction work on internal and CC roads should also be accelerated. Additionally, efforts should be made to create a pleasant environment by incorporating greenery and planting necessary saplings in the STP premises.

HMWSSB is currently constructing 31 new STPs within GHMC limits at a cost of Rs 3,866.41 crore. These STPs will treat all the sewage produced daily in the city. The construction is taking place in all five circles, and once completed, it will be possible to treat 1257.50 million liters per day of sewage regularly, according to a senior HMWSSB officer.
