Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a meeting with top officials to discuss the implementation of a farmers’ loan waiver scheme. The state government aims to fulfill the public assurance made during the Lok Sabha election campaign by August 15. It is estimated that Rs 30,000 crore will be needed for this scheme.
During the meeting, the State Finance department was tasked with finding ways to gather the necessary funds. The State Agriculture wing was also instructed to compile a list of eligible farmers who have taken loans up to Rs 2 lakh. Revanth Reddy requested officials to gather information on all farmers from bankers and those who have taken crop loans from Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS).
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswar Rao, Adviser to the Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, and other top officials participated in the review meeting. The government is now focused on finalizing the modalities for the loan waiver scheme and ensuring that it is implemented efficiently.
