Met sources in Bhubaneswar have said that the southwest monsoon is likely to advance further over some areas of Odisha in the next few days. The monsoon has already advanced into parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Westcentral and Northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand, some more parts of Bihar and remaining parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. The Met Centre has also predicted that the heatwave conditions in east India and nearby areas are likely to reduce gradually from Tuesday onwards.
The maximum temperature in Odisha is expected to fall gradually by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius over the next three days, with no major changes thereafter. However, some districts in the interior of Odisha may experience above-normal temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius over the next two days.
