Norwegian striker Erling Haaland will miss his country’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Spain and Georgia due to a groin injury, according to the Norwegian football association. The 22-year-old Manchester City player picked up the injury after scoring a hat-trick in the FA Cup quarterfinal against Burnley on Saturday. Norway’s national team doctor, Ola Sand, said that tests and examinations showed Haaland would not be fit for the games and it was better for him to receive medical follow-up at his club. Haaland has scored 21 goals in 23 appearances for Norway since his debut in September 2019 and 42 goals in 37 appearances for Manchester City this season. He is now in a race to be fit in time for City’s upcoming matches against Liverpool and Bayern Munich in April.
