On Friday, there were many last-minute changes of candidates by political parties in Telangana. This led to protests, defections, high dramas, and confusion on the last day of filing nominations. Approximately 2,000 nominations were received from across the state. Gajwel had the highest number of nominations (50), followed by Medchal constituency (30) represented by Ch Malla Reddy. The Congress party made some changes to their candidate list, denying tickets to some prominent leaders like Patel Ramesh Reddy and Neelam Madhu.
A video of Patel Ramesh Reddy crying after being denied a ticket went viral. Neelam Madhu expressed his displeasure and joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and filed a nomination. The exact number of nominations filed will be known later as the counting process is still ongoing. It is estimated that over 2,000 candidates have submitted nomination papers, with more than 500 filed on Friday alone. TPCC president A Revanth Reddy filed his papers in Kamareddy, accompanied by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other Telangana Congress leaders.
The BJP also made some changes to their candidate list, replacing Tula Uma with Ch Vikas Rao in Vemulawada constituency. Rajeshwar Deshpande was replaced with P Raju in the Sangareddy Assembly segment. The scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on November 13, and the last date to withdraw nominations is November 15.
