Hyderabad: The BRS MLC K Kavitha did not get any relief on her default bail plea. The Rouse Avenue Court postponed the case to August 5.
Kavitha’s bail plea is related to the Delhi liquor scam. Her lawyers argued in court on Monday. They claimed that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not file a complete charge sheet within the required 60-day period.
The lawyers said the CBI had illegally arrested Kavitha on April 11, 2024. They pointed out that the CBI submitted an incomplete charge sheet on June 7 and noted several errors in it.
Kavitha’s advocates told the judge that under CrPC 167(2), she had the right to default bail. They explained that for cases with a potential seven-year imprisonment, custody could only last up to 60 days. Kavitha had been in custody for 86 days, finishing the mandatory period by July 6, when they filed the default bail petition in the Delhi Court.
