The National Medical Commission (NMC) has brought good news for medical students from Telangana who were studying MBBS in Ukraine and Russia. The NMC announced that these students can now migrate to any country other than India. However, there are certain conditions that need to be fulfilled.
The students who physically joined the course in Ukraine/Russia before the war and returned or were evacuated to India during the war period (Operation Ganga between February 26, 2022, and March 11, 2022) are eligible. They need to meet the regulations published on November 18, 2011, which include education, subjects, training, and a certificate granting them a license to practice medicine in that country.
This special permission for migration is only applicable to students who returned to India by March 31, 2022, and it will expire on March 7, 2024. The internship opportunities for these students and the schedule will be decided by the State Medical Councils and State Directorate General of Medical Education.
The students will have to appear for the FMG Examination/NExT within the same time limits as Indian students. They must also complete their internship in India within 10 years of joining their foreign medical institutions.
