Nizam's Great-Grandson Opposes Land Auction in Hyderabad
Himayat Ali Mirza, the great-grandson of Nizam VII Mir Osman Ali Khan, has strongly opposed the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation’s (TGIIC) plan to auction land in Kancha Gachibowli village, Serilingampally mandal. He claims that several court cases regarding the land are still pending and has called the auction illegal and unfair. He has urged the Union Home Ministry to order a CBI investigation into the matter.
In a media statement, Himayat Ali Mirza stated that the Telangana government’s decision to auction 400 acres of land in Survey No. 25/P is unlawful. He referred to an agreement made on January 26, 1950, between Nizam VII and the Government of India, which recognized the Nizam’s personal properties. These properties were recorded in a document known as the “Blue Book” and were officially approved by the President of India and the Indian Parliament.
He further explained that the Kancha Gachibowli land is listed in the Blue Book under List No. III – Kanchajat, Serial No. 4. The land, measuring 2,725.25 acres in Survey No. 25 and 26, was owned by Nizam VII, as confirmed by state revenue records and other legal documents. After the Nizam’s death in 1967, the property was passed down to his legal heirs.
Himayat Ali Mirza condemned the Telangana government’s move, calling it illegal. He urged the Home Minister to direct the CBI to investigate the issue. He also mentioned that he has filed civil cases regarding properties in Alwal and Kancha Gachibowli, which are still pending in court.
