Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao announced that G Nivedita will be the candidate for the Secunderabad Cantonment bye-election. Nivedita is the sister of the late MLA Lasya Nandita, who passed away in a road accident, leading to the need for a bye-election in the constituency.

KCR held discussions with party leaders in the constituency and Nivedita’s family members at his farmhouse. The leaders entrusted the decision to the party leadership and pledged their support for the candidate. Previously, the Cantonment Board was represented by G Sayanna, who had switched from the Telugu Desam Party to BRS. After his demise, the ticket was given to his daughter Lasya Nandita, who unfortunately also met with a fatal accident. Now, Nivedita has been chosen as the candidate.

The Congress has nominated Sri Ganesh, who previously ran as a BJP candidate in the Assembly elections. The BJP has yet to announce its candidate. The Secunderabad Cantonment bypoll will coincide with the Lok Sabha elections. BRS is currently considering candidates for the Warangal Lok Sabha constituency, with names like Dr Sudheer, Peddi Swapna, and Pulla Srinivas being discussed. Sudheer, who has been a member of the party since 2001 and currently serves as the Zilla Parishad Chairman of Hanamkonda, is a potential choice. Former candidate Kadiyam Kavya recently left BRS to join Congress and received a ticket there.
