Hyderabad: Nine people, including women and children, were injured when a powerful explosion occurred at a house in Asad Baba Nagar, Kishanbagh, in the Old City on Wednesday. Out of the nine, three people are reported to be in critical condition. The explosion is believed to have been caused by firecrackers.
The blast happened around 4 pm while the family was inside the house. The explosion was so strong that it caused significant damage to the asbestos-roofed house. Pieces of debris from the explosion flew into the surrounding area, damaging the glass windows of nearby buildings.
After the explosion, local residents of Kishanbagh rushed to help the injured. The Bahadurpura police quickly began investigating the scene. A forensic team collected samples of the explosive material, and the bomb detection and disposal squad also arrived to ensure the area was safe.
According to the police, the family had been making small firecrackers and had stored some low-grade explosive materials for this purpose. The explosion completely destroyed the house, scattering household items everywhere.
Senior police officials visited the site to assess the situation. The Bahadurpura police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the incident.
