Chevella: A day after the tragic road accident on NH-163 in Chevella Mandal, which claimed multiple lives, the much-awaited road widening project on the Hyderabad-Mannaguda highway has finally begun. Authorities have taken swift action to start construction on the dangerously narrow road, addressing long-standing public safety concerns.
The road work is being carried out at the following locations:
1. Mruganivani Resorts
2. After Chevella Town
3. Khanapur (27 KM)
4. Mudimyal Forest (36 KM)
The commencement of the widening work comes after repeated appeals from residents and media, including Telangana Tribune, which has been raising awareness about the road’s hazardous conditions for over two years. Despite the project being sanctioned long ago, construction delays have put countless commuters at risk, culminating in yesterday’s tragic incident.
The widening of NH-163 is expected to transform this accident-prone stretch into a safer, more accessible route, ensuring smoother traffic flow and improved safety for travelers. Residents and commuters have welcomed the move but emphasized the need for the timely completion of the project to prevent further tragedies.
