New space mission by Hyd's Dhruva to mark the beginning of 2024

Hyderabad-based spacetech start-up Dhruva Space is set to launch its LEAP-TD mission on board the Indian Space Research Organisation’s PSLV-C58 from the Sriharikota spaceport on Monday. The mission aims to test the functionality and reliability of the P-30 platform and its various subsystems in orbit. Dhruva Space will also collaborate with the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) for Telemetry, Tracking & Command activities.

The P-30 nanosatellite platform, designed for Low Earth Orbit operations, represents the culmination of extensive research and engineering expertise. It will play a crucial role in future satellite missions for Dhruva Space and its customers. The Chief Executive Officer of Dhruva Space, Sanjay Nekkanti, expressed excitement about the validation of their nanosatellite platform and emphasized their commitment to delivering full-stack and hosted payload solutions.

One of the key components in the P-30 is a Reaction Wheel supplied by French company Comat. This partnership was formalized in February 2023. The Reaction Wheel enables precise pointing and power efficiency for satellite stabilization.

Dhruva Space’s LEAP initiative will eventually offer full-fledged hosted payload solutions for space missions. Hosted payload services involve a portion of a satellite owned by an entity other than the main operator, which operates independently but shares resources with the main spacecraft.

By offering hosted payload services, Dhruva Space demonstrates its readiness to provide solutions to the global space industry.
