Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has announced that a new portal will soon replace the current Dharani system. This new portal will have 14 columns to determine land ownership, instead of just one.
In a media statement, the Minister criticized the previous government for mishandling land records, which caused problems for farmers. He explained that the old system, called “pahani,” had 32 columns to identify landowners and was filled manually. However, when Dharani was introduced, it simplified the process to just one column, which led to confusion. The new portal aims to give each farmer a clear and accurate land title.
The Minister also mentioned the introduction of a new Record of Rights (RoR) Act that will address all issues related to land ownership. He said that this Act was created after studying the best practices in land management from more than a dozen countries.
