The Telangana Government has announced a new health scheme for state government employees and pensioners called Employees Health Care Trust (EHCT). The trust will benefit the family members of the employees and pensioners. The trust Board will be headed by the Chief Secretary and will include officials and employees as members. The government has issued GO 186 for this purpose. The first pay revision commission recommended a special health scheme for employees and pensioners, and also suggested that the government collect money to run the trust. The government will provide matching grants every month, while the employees association has agreed to contribute 1% of their basic pay.
Health Minister T Harish Rao had a meeting with the employees association and submitted a report to the government. Based on the discussions, the government will establish an Employees Healthcare Trust with the Chief Secretary as the head. The government members will include Finance Special Chief Secretary, Medical and Health, Education, General Administration department secretaries, Home Department chief secretary, Director of Medical Education, and the CEO of Aarogyasri Trust. Six members from employees and two from pensioners will also be nominated. The board members will propose policy decisions, and the money deducted from employees and pensioners will be directly deposited in the trust. The government has already sanctioned 15 posts for the management of EHCT, and additional guidelines for the scheme will be announced later.
Health Minister Harish Rao has welcomed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s decision.
