The government has introduced a new mobile application called Whatsup to help cotton farmers. This app will make it easier for them to sell their cotton at Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) centres. The idea is to make the selling process smoother and less stressful for farmers.
In the old Khammam district, farmers grow cotton on about four lakh acres of land. To help these farmers, the government has set up 10 CCI centres across the district. The new app will give farmers real-time information, making it easier for them to sell their cotton at these centres.
The District Marketing Officer, MA Aleem, explained that the app was developed by One Software System Private Limited. It connects all marketing departments in the state. Farmers can access the app using the number 889728111. Through the app, they can enter details about their cotton and track loading and unloading activities at the CCI centres.
Aleem added that the app provides important updates on cotton prices, loading, and unloading. The information is available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, and English. Farmers who are registered with the Department of Agriculture can use the app to get real-time updates directly from the CCI centres.
The app is expected to benefit around 1,10,025 cotton farmers in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district and 1,09,014 farmers in the Khammam district. Now, these farmers can access important information without leaving their homes.
