    Nerella Sharada has taken over as the chairperson of the TS Commission for Women at the Commission’s office in Buddha Bhavan. She was joined by Ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Seethakka, as well as former minister Danam Nagender and others.

    Sharada, who previously served as State Mahila Congress president, thanked Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for entrusting her with the role. She promised to take strong action to prevent violence against women. The Commission plans to raise awareness among men about respecting women, with their first meeting coming soon.

    Uttam Kumar Reddy praised the Congress government in Telangana for its efforts to empower women. He mentioned various schemes like Mahalakshmi, Gruha Jyothi, and Indiramma Indlu that have helped women economically. For example, over 14 lakh women use free RTC bus services daily, and nearly 55 crore zero tickets have been given under the Mahalakshmi scheme, allowing women more freedom to travel.
