In the SC Hostel located in Aija, Jogulamba Gadwal district, bathrooms built for student use have been left neglected and unusable. The issue stems from a lack of proper maintenance by the hostel warden. Despite the government spending significant amounts of money to construct these facilities, students have been forced to use nearby streams and fields due to the poor hygiene conditions, as reported by the students themselves.
According to the students, these bathrooms have not been in use for over a year, yet the warden has not taken any action to fix the situation. Parents are understandably frustrated by this, pointing out that many students in hostels across different areas face similar problems with sanitation. They feel that while the bathrooms exist, the warden’s failure to maintain them is a form of negligence, wasting government resources.
Parents have also expressed their concern about the warden’s responsibilities. They believe the warden’s job goes beyond simply being present at the hostel — it includes ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and that a safe environment is provided for the students. One parent mentioned, “We trust this institution with our children, expecting them to be cared for as if they were the institution’s own.”
The parents are urging higher authorities to step in and resolve the issue by ensuring the bathrooms are cleaned and made usable again. They are also calling for accountability and demanding action be taken against the warden for this oversight.
