    A two-day national workshop on digital learning began at Osmania University on Thursday. The event, titled “Embarking on the Digital Frontier – Tools for Enhancing MOOCs Experiences,” focuses on improving online education.

    The workshop was organized by the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), Hyderabad, in partnership with the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), New Delhi. It is being held at the Centenary Auditorium, PGRRCDE, and has attracted 152 participants from across India.

    Professor Balakista Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGCHE), spoke about the rapid growth of digital education. He highlighted how technology is making higher education more accessible and emphasized that India’s young population can meet global job demands through digital learning.

    Professor J B Nadda, Director of CEC, New Delhi, discussed the evolution of India’s online learning platform SWAYAM to SWAYAM Plus. He explained that India aims to become a global leader in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). He also mentioned the government’s goal to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) from 28.5% to 50% by 2035. To achieve this, he suggested setting up digital universities as a key solution.
