    NAAC Accreditation Key to Quality Education: Prof Reddy

    Hyderabad: Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE), stressed the importance of NAAC Accreditation in maintaining the quality and credibility of educational institutions.

    He spoke as the Chief Guest at the opening session of a three-day National Workshop on NAAC Accreditation and Outcome-Based Education through AI-Powered Digital Learning. The event took place at Osmania University’s Tagore Auditorium on Monday.

    The workshop attracted over 1,300 participants from across India, highlighting its significance in shaping the future of higher education. Prof. Reddy shared concerning statistics, revealing that out of 1,278 universities and 50,000 colleges in India, only 10% have national-level accreditation. In Telangana, just 260 out of 2,083 colleges are accredited, which is only 12%.

    He pointed out that these numbers show an urgent need for improvement in educational institutions. He also discussed the National Education Policies (NEP) of 1968, 1986, and 2020, particularly focusing on NEP 2020. Prof. Reddy raised concerns about the effects of globalization, liberalization, privatization, and digitalization on the education system. Additionally, he spoke about international treaties like WTO/GATS and their influence on global education.

    Prof. Reddy mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic had a more significant impact on education than liberalization, privatization, and globalization. He emphasized the need for institutions to adapt to these changes.

    He appreciated the organizers’ efforts in conducting the workshop on a large scale and stressed the importance of adapting to the evolving education system. Other distinguished guests at the event included Prof. Kumar Molugaram, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, and Prof. Naresh Reddy, Registrar of Osmania University.

    The workshop aims to help faculty members gain knowledge and skills related to NAAC accreditation, outcome-based education, and the use of AI-powered digital learning tools.
