Hyderabad celebrated the 1500th Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi on Monday with great enthusiasm. People renewed their commitment to following the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, marking the special occasion with traditional zeal.
Due to the ongoing Ganesh festivities, the celebrations were mostly held indoors. The main Milad procession, which is an important part of the celebration, has been scheduled for Thursday and will start from the historic Mecca Masjid.
The festivities began on Sunday evening in many parts of the city, especially in the Old City. Localities were beautifully decorated, and special prayers were offered in mosques on Monday. These prayers focused on the progress, unity, and welfare of the Muslim community.
In addition to prayers, people shared sweets, snacks, juices, and water with others. Many also distributed food as part of the celebration. Blood donation camps were organized to remind the youth of the Prophet’s teachings of equality, empathy, and love for one another. The community also displayed sacred relics of Prophet Mohammed at Mecca Masjid, Masjid-e-Shattariya, Quadri Chaman in Falaknuma, Dargah-e-Yousufain in Nampally, and other locations in the city.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy extended his greetings to the Muslim community on the occasion. He emphasized the Prophet’s message of peace, brotherhood, and compassion, while reaffirming the government’s dedication to uplift the socio-economic status of Muslims in the state.
The Muslim community leaders announced that the Milad-un-Nabi procession had been postponed to promote communal harmony. Maulana Hafez Mohammed Muzaffar, a member of the ‘Markazi Milad Juloos Committee’, explained that the procession, initially scheduled for September 16, was rescheduled due to the Ganesh festivities. The new date for the procession is September 19, Thursday.
On Sunday, Commissioner CV Anand held a meeting with senior officers to discuss the management of upcoming events, including the Ganesh immersion and the Milad procession. He shared on social media that he had conducted a video conference with police officers to ensure proper planning and strategies regarding road safety, crowd control, and other precautions for these events.
