Former MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy’s decision to re-join the Congress party has caused tension among party members in Munugode Assembly constituency. After joining, Reddy met with AICC general secretary K C Venugopal in Delhi and will officially join the party in the presence of Rahul Gandhi on October 27. This has caused concern among other party members who were aspiring for the Munugode seat. Ch Krishna Reddy, the top aspirant, has declared himself as the candidate, while others like Palvai Sravanthi and P Kailash Neta are lobbying in Delhi. Kailash has requested that the party recognize his loyalty and give a seat to a BC candidate like himself.

These three leaders were also top aspirants when Reddy left the party in 2022. Sravanthi, who received the ticket but was unsuccessful in the byelections of Munugode last year, and the other two candidates applied once again. Krishna Reddy expressed his desire for Rajagopal Reddy to leave the Munugode constituency for him, as his area of influence is Munugode.

Rajagopal has already stated that he will contest from Munugode if the party gives him a ticket. He even expressed his readiness to take on KCR from Gajwel if given the chance. The speculation surrounding his statements has already begun.

During the byelections in 2022, the party lost some leaders, including Palle Ravi Kumar. Ravi, who comes from the Goud caste, joined BRS and is currently serving as chairman of the Telangana State Toddy Tapper Cooperative Finance Corporation Limited. He had warned the party that failure to choose a BC candidate for the byelection would be detrimental to the party’s prospects in the constituency during last year’s polls.
