District Collector and District Election Officer Ila Tripathi has stated that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure that the elections in the district are conducted freely, peacefully, and transparently, in accordance with the guidelines of the Central Election Commission.
During a press conference at the Collectorate’s video conference hall on Friday, the Collector announced that the names of the candidates running in the district have been finalized and symbols have been allotted to them.
She further explained that a total of 18 candidates filed their nominations between the third and tenth of this month. After scrutiny and withdrawal, there are now 11 candidates in the running. The entire constituency consists of 220,886 voters, including 169 PWD voters who are allowed to vote from home.
The Collector also shared that 303 polling centers have been set up for the elections. After voting takes place on the 30th from 7 am to 4 pm, the EVM machines will be transported to the degree college under heavy security. On the third day of the following month, the EVM machines will be installed in a special hall at the collector’s office. Two teams from ECIL, as requested by the Election Commission, will monitor the EVMs on election day.
A control room will be established at the district collectorate to address any election-related complaints. Starting from the 15th of this month, voter information slips containing detailed information about polling station locations have been distributed door-to-door through BLOs.
All necessary arrangements have been made at all polling centers for the assembly elections scheduled for the 30th of this month. The Collector called for cooperation from the public and leaders of various parties to ensure a peaceful election atmosphere.
