Hyderabad: Ahmadi Begum has asked Indian authorities for help to rescue her daughter, Najma Begum, who is stuck in Muscat, Oman. Najma was reportedly tricked by a travel agent. Ahmadi Begum has approached the Union External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subramanian Jaishankar, for assistance.
In a letter to Dr. Jaishankar, Ahmadi explained that her daughter, Najma, is currently staying at an Indian embassy shelter. Najma had escaped from her employer’s house in Muscat. According to the letter, Najma, who lives in Begumpet, was offered a job as a housemaid by a female agent. Najma arrived in Muscat on July 30 this year and worked for a sheikh for three months.
Najma’s family revealed that she has diabetes and was facing psychological harassment from her employer. Due to this mistreatment, Najma decided to run away. Ahmadi Begum has requested the External Affairs Minister to ask the Indian Embassy in Muscat to help bring her daughter home as quickly as possible.
Amjedullah Khan, spokesperson for the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), posted about the situation on X (formerly known as Twitter). He stated that Najma Begum from Hyderabad, Telangana, was cheated by a local travel agent and became trapped in Muscat. After fleeing her employer’s house, she sought refuge at the Indian Embassy. Khan supported Ahmadi Begum’s plea to Dr. Jaishankar for urgent action to rescue Najma.
