In Warangal district, the BRS party is facing challenges as some of its leaders have switched to the Congress and BJP. Before the 2023 elections, BRS had 11 out of 12 seats in the district, but only won two Assembly seats in the recent polls.

The defeat in the elections has impacted BRS’s hold on nominated posts in Warangal. Leaders like Warangal MP Pasunuri Dayakar, Mayor Gundu Sudharani, and others have left BRS for Congress. Former MLA Aroori Ramesh joined BJP and ran for the Warangal Lok Sabha seat.

There are rumors that MLC Baswaraj Saraiah might also join Congress soon. Saraiah recently met with his political mentor Ramasahayam Surender Reddy, leading to speculation about his defection after the Lok Sabha polls.

Saraiah’s potential move to Congress is seen as a return to his roots, as he is a well-known leader in Warangal and has previously served as a minister in the state’s Congress government.
