Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the opposition for not doing anything constructive and failing to appreciate the development work done in recent years. He made these remarks during his virtual address after laying the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations. Modi stated that a faction of the opposition continues to follow old ways, obstructing progress without doing any work themselves. He also mentioned how the opposition opposed the construction of a new Parliament building, the redevelopment of Kartavya Path, and the establishment of the National War Memorial.
Modi highlighted that despite the opposition’s selective support for Sardar Patel during elections, none of the opposition leaders ever visited the “Statue of Unity” in Gujarat to pay their respects to the freedom fighter. He urged for a shift towards positive politics focused on development and leaving behind negative politics.
The prime minister also announced that India will celebrate National Handloom Day on August 7, dedicated to the Swadeshi movement. He emphasized the importance of supporting local products through the slogan “Vocal for Local.” Furthermore, he encouraged eco-friendly celebrations for Ganesh Chaturthi, which follows shortly after.
