Commuters Demand Better MMTS Train Services in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Passengers using MMTS trains in Hyderabad have raised concerns about irregular timings and limited coverage. They have urged South Central Railway to introduce suburban trains on the Kacheguda-Medchal route and improve the timings of existing MMTS services.
Recently, the Long Distance and MMTS Travellers Association submitted a request to railway officials, asking for more trains between Medchal and Secunderabad. They noted that many trains run nearly empty during the morning and evening hours because the current timings are inconvenient for commuters. They suggested adjusting the train schedules to better match travel needs and avoid wasting electricity.
Some MMTS users pointed out that three MMTS trains operate from Medchal to Falaknuma between 1:20 PM and 2:15 PM, but these timings are not suitable for most passengers. They also highlighted the lack of suburban train services from Kacheguda, particularly during peak hours. To address this issue, they demanded at least one evening train from Medchal to Kacheguda. Additionally, the association suggested improving the Medak-Kacheguda DEMU service and extending it to Sircilla once the railway line is completed.
Noor, the general secretary of the Suburban Train Travellers Association, emphasized that as redevelopment projects are progressing across the city, introducing suburban trains from Medchal to Kacheguda and other areas would be beneficial.
Apart from these demands, the association also suggested extending train no. 17023/24 (Secunderabad-Kurnool City) to Charlapalli. Many people from Rayalaseema live in areas like Malkajgiri, Charlapalli, and ECIL and work in government offices and private industries nearby. Extending this train to Charlapalli would provide them with a direct intercity connection to Rayalaseema, making travel more convenient.
