Sharply reacting to the notice served on her by the ED, MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha said that the notice issued to her in the Delhi Excise Policy case is politically motivated. She mentioned that her legal team had informed the ED that she would not be able to appear before them on Friday due to prior engagements and because the case is pending before the Supreme Court.

Earlier in the day, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Kavitha, who is the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, to its Delhi office on Friday for questioning regarding alleged irregularities. Kavitha had previously been questioned by the ED in March and had submitted her mobile phones for investigation.

Kavitha held a press conference in Nizamabad where she responded to queries about the notice. She stated that using Central agencies is a common tactic of the BJP government in poll-bound states, and since Telangana is going to polls, they are employing the same technique. She believes that the notice is politically motivated due to the charged-up environment in Telangana and the upcoming elections.

Kavitha compared the ongoing ED investigation to a never-ending TV serial and expressed her frustration with its duration. She stated that it has been happening for the past year and she does not know how much longer it will continue. She believes that it is politically motivated and highly unfair.

Kavitha emphasized that her party, BRS, is not affiliated with any political party but is dedicated to serving the people of Telangana. She believes that the people will teach the BJP a lesson in the upcoming elections. The ED notice comes after one of the prime accused, Arun Ramachandra Pillai, turned approver.
