The Indian School of Business (ISB) recently held a public policy workshop for MLAs from Meghalaya. The workshop, done in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya, aimed to help the MLAs develop entrepreneurial and investment ecosystems in the state, which would create job opportunities for the youth. The workshop also focused on improving livelihoods in tribal belts and rural areas.
The workshop was attended by several important figures, including the Speaker of Meghalaya Assembly, the leader of the Opposition, the Government Chief Whip, and the Opposition Chief Whip, along with 35 MLAs and 20 officials. The workshop took place from November 16-18 and was organized by the Bharti Institute of Public Policy and the Meghalaya Institute of Governance.
The participants engaged in various sessions led by notable speakers, such as a former adviser to the PM and a former ambassador. They discussed topics like understanding the Meghalaya Legislative Research Fellowship, advancing constituency development plans, and improving livelihoods through the forest economy.
Sampath Kumar, the Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner of Meghalaya, expressed his enthusiasm for strengthening the collaboration between the State government and ISB. He emphasized that these workshops facilitate discussions between academia, the executive, and the legislature, promoting collaborative governance.
As part of the workshop, the MLAs also visited T-HUB, a startup ecosystem enabler of the Telangana government, and the Telangana State Integrated Command and Control Centre, a state-of-the-art facility.
Overall, the workshop aimed to equip MLAs with the knowledge and skills to drive innovation and development in Meghalaya, particularly in terms of entrepreneurship and investment.
