Local MLA Tellam Venkatarao, who is also a qualified surgeon, showed remarkable commitment by performing emergency caesarean sections for two pregnant women. This happened at the Bhadrachalam government area hospital during a time of crisis caused by the Godavari flood. The flood led to a significant disruption in the area and created a shortage of medical staff at the hospital.
Recently, four out of the five surgeons at the hospital were transferred, leaving only one surgeon to manage the duties. When two expectant mothers began experiencing labor pains, the hospital authorities knew they had a problem. They couldn’t transfer the patients due to the flood situation, so they reached out to MLA Venkatarao, who was busy with flood relief efforts at that time.
Venkatarao rushed to the hospital and successfully performed caesarean sections on both women. Bhimanaboina Swapna from Wreguballi, Dummugudem mandal, gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Puspali, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Charla mandal, welcomed a baby girl. The local residents praised Venkatarao for his dedication to maternal care during such challenging times.
Dr. Mallesh, the anesthetist, and gynecologist Dr. Srinidhi, along with nursing staff Kalyani, Vijayalakshmi, Meena, Sita, and Bhavani, also played crucial roles in providing maternity services. Their collaborative effort ensured the safety of both mothers and their newborns.
